Comparing and Ordering Decimals

We are back at it in Math today!  We are currently comparing and ordering decimals.  We proceeded to use manipulatives to create decimal numbers on wipe boards, and then switch wipe boards with other groups and compare and order the decimal numbers they created.

Welcome Back! Homework Already!

Welcome back everyone!  Although the busses were cancelled we still had a full house so there is homework tonight.

Math:  Page 123 #2, #3, #7

We have started a new unit on decimals.  Below are the learning goals.

English:  New spelling program put in place today!  Check your google classroom for the outline.  All spelling work is due Friday.

I can represents and order decimal numbers from 0.001 to 1 000 000 using a variety of tools.

I can add decimal numbers to thousandths, using concrete materials, estimation, algorithms, and calculators.

I can subtract decimal numbers to thousandths, using concrete materials, estimation, algorithms, and calculators.

I can multiply decimal numbers to tenths by whole numbers, using concrete materials, estimation, algorithms, and calculators.

I can divide decimal numbers to tenths by whole numbers, using concrete materials, estimation, algorithms, and calculators.

I can multiply whole numbers by 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001 using mental strategies.

I can multiply and divide decimal numbers by 10, 100, 1000, and 10 000 using mental strategies.

I can use estimation when solving problems involving the addition and subtraction of decimals to help decide if my solution is reasonable.
