EQAO Take-up day April 6

I have handed out a copy of an old EQAO test for some of the students to practice.  It's perfect for nights when there is no homework and the student wants to challenge their brain.  If you'd like a copy for your child, please send a note in the agenda letting me know.  This is completely voluntary.

Writer's Workshop: Persuasive Writing

The students have been assigned their Writer's Workshop for the month based on Persuasive Writing.  We have dissected a variety of persuasive writing samples in the classroom, and have partnered up and written our own and dissected those as well.  Now the students will be writing their own independent piece.

This assignment has been given on "Google Classroom."  Please ask your child to see the assignment outline. 

I am including some great samples that student can use to assist them in identifying strong characteristics of persuasive writing HERE and HERE.

Students are encouraged to read through a variety of student work but to always make their writing their own with their own language and ideas.

Happy Writing Grade 6s!  Remember a helpful hint is to pretend you are a lawyer, defending your argument or a sales person trying to make a sale!  Be convincing!

We are currently working on illustrating 3-D shapes on triangular dot paper.  We just started exploring this topic and it is quite tricky.  Please ask your kids about this and have them demonstrate some ways to draw these shapes isometrically.
